A Day On The Water

Last weekend we took the opportunity to visit one of Indiana’s numerous, beautiful, large lakes and reservoirs. We drove over to Brookville Reservoir near the Ohio state line to spend the day on the lake. The day began gray and a bit rainy, but the sun finally came out. Actually, the first couple of hours of rainy weather was fun as well!

This lake is over 5000 acres and is surrounded by gorgeous tree-covered hills. We hit just about every part of it with a little bit of swimming, some fishing, and a lot of chilling. Of course it almost goes without saying, there was a cocktail or two and some snacks along the way.

I think too many people overlook taking advantage of their area or state’s natural and public resources. I don’t know about other states, but our public lands and waterways are very inexpensive. Our state parks, lakes, and nature reserves offer many ways to enjoy the great outdoors year-round. They are all fun to visit, and each is unique as a result of the state’s geography. The northern half being relatively flat and the souther half extremely hilly.

Another fun part of the day was traveling the state highways through cute small towns, a few I had never been to. And of course driving through some absolutely beautiful farm land! We ended the day with a nice dinner at Ainsley’s Cafe. It’s right on the water between the two marinas. Nice dinner, nice view, and great company. This was a relaxing way to spend a Saturday after a long work week, except for the hour and a half drive home LOL.
